Abstract The cost of drilling and completing wells, both for production and for injection, is a major component of the capital investment for a geothermal power plant. In constant dollars, however, drilling cost appears to have decreased in the last twenty to thirty years. This paper will examine new technology developments and changes in drilling practices that have contributed to this reduction.
