Abstract The Gidutikad Band of the Northern Paiute Tribe (the Fort Bidwell Indian Community, FBIC) resides in the extreme northeast corner of California, west of the Town of Ft. Bidwell. The Fort Bidwell Indian Reservation (FBIR) has extensive low and suspected moderate temperature geothermal resources. There are currently three geothermal wells that are on the reservation and a fourth exploration well is planned to determine power producing potential. A feasibility study funded by the DOE Tribal Energy Program is underway to provide a basis for an FBIC determination of whether to proceed with, and the most efficient way to use the Tribe’s geothermal resources in a district heating application. The potential for combining power generation with district heating as an effective and more economical way to obtain the goals of each is also being addressed.
