| Abstract | A large scale hydraulic injection was conducted atthe Australian Hot Dry Rock site in November andDecember, 2003 in order to develop a commercialsize underground heat exchanger. A Japaneseseismic team set up the seismic network and dataacquisition system, and carried out microseismicmonitoring during the period in co-operation with theAustralian teams. On-site analysis was done as analmost real-time process by means of auto andmanual time picking. Information such as 3Ddistribution of events, time-spatial growth ofseismicity, and roughly estimated magnitude werereported simultaneously. More than 11,000 eventswere located as the result of the on-site mapping. Theinformation from microseismicity was practicallyused for planning and determination of theappropriate hydraulic pumping program, and will becritical to the determination of the location for thesecond well. |
