Abstract In the State of Hawaii energy education is an integrated program, and doesn't focus on any one resource, such as geothermal. This is in keeping with the State's integrated resource planning effort, which views geothermal energy as a single, although important, piece in the energy puzzle. In order to understand the role of geothermal energy in theState's energy future, it is necessary to understand the degree of the islands dependency on petroleum, the applicability of energy efficiency measure, and the potential of other renewable. However, duty to the elevated public awareness of geothermal development issues, some efforts are made especially in geothermal education.
