Abstract The California Energy Company, Inc. (CECI) and Mission Power Engineering Company (MPE) have completed engineering and construction, and began operation of four additional geothermal generating units as part of the Coso Geothermal Project. These units are located on two sites in the COSO KGRA on the China Lake Naval Weapons Center in central California. IN 1988 four similar units were completed and place in service. Nine generating units are now operating, with a gross capacity of approximately 264 MWe. This paper describes the design, construction and start up of the latest four units.
