| Abstract | Many thermal springs in Tuscany (Italy) are located at the boundaries of permeable outcrops that belong to the main regional aquifers and represent area of infiltration of cold meteoric waters. The results of two dimensional mathematical models, which consider porous media and steady state conditions, indicate possible circulations fed by local infiltration in areas characterized by anomalous heat flow. Analogies with the simulation results can be drawn form the behavior of various thermal springs of Campiglia hydrothermal system kept under systematic observation over a period of almost three years. |
