| Abstract |
Recently, a worldwide survey of nontehcnical geothermal public information items was undertaken by the California Department of Conservation, Division of Oil and Gas. Copies of the survey were sent to subscribers of the Geothermal Hot Line, published by the Division, and subscribers of the Bulletin, published by the Geothermal Resources Council. To date, positive responses have been received form 14 countries. Twenty one responses are from private companies, 33 from governmental agencies, 7 from utilizes, 2 from universities, and 3 from professional organizations. Along with their surveys, respondents sent two copies of 185 nontechnical geothermal public information items in 8 languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Chinese and Greek. Among the items are 52 pamphlets, 29 books, 26 articles, 21 fact sheets, 12 booklets, 9 maps, 9 posters, 8 newsletters, 8 videotapes, 5 EIR's, 4 magazines, 3 press release packets, 2 calendars, 2 slide and photo sets, 1 floppy disk, 1 report to stockholders and 1 speech. (An item may be included in more than one category). Audiences for which the items were prepared are children, (41 items); the adult general public (159 items), communities near geothermal developments (119 items); organizations, such as environmental groups (99 items); technical or scientific project evaluators (76 items); stockholders (18 items); and other (21 items).
