| Abstract | Geothermal resources are significant in the Pacific Northwest United States. But no geothermal power plants operate in the region today. Lack of such development is due to area power markets. This paper first looks at past geothermal actions by area utilities. It discusses current and future electricity market conditions. The paper concludes with a look at competing power supplies and challenges facing geothermal developers in the next decade. |
