| Abstract | This report covers experimental work on the condensation of steam air mixture in a horizontal tube. The effects of inlet fluid temperature, air mass concentration and tube diameter on the rate of condensation are investigated. It is shown that the major drop in the condensation heat transfer coefficient occurs within an air mass concentration of 3% or less, and thereafter the drop in the heat transfer coefficient becomes gradual. The heat transfer coefficient is seen to be dependant on the tube diameter, fluid inlet temperature and concentration of noncondensable gas(es). |
