Abstract The temperature of flashed brines at Cerro Prieto Geothermal Field suggests a heat recovering study. However, scale formation in equipment, due to supersaturation, becomes one of the most important restrictions to develop a heat transfer process. Previous reports of experiments carried out with this brine showed that it is possible to reduce the scale deposition through acidification. This paper presents a feasibility study to recover heat from waste brines.
