| Abstract | An exploratory cruise of the area located 21° N, 109° W was carried out by the Scripps Oceanographic, La Jolla, California and the Woods Hole0 Oceanographic, Massachusetts. Scientists of eight countries, including Mexico participated in the cruise. The explored area is located in Mexico, 200 Km south of Cabo San Lucas. Samples and measurements of already discovered marine hydrothermal vents were taken. A new vents zone (2600m depth) was discovered and also sampled. This site was named Hanging Gardens due to the beauty of the place and the existing fauna on site. |
