| Abstract |
In those states with both a need for power and geothermal resources, new geothermal plants have been built, Some are small "pilot" plants, while others are commercially available units. Circumstances leading to development in the 1980s of geothermal power plants in California, Nevada and Utah are analyzed. Economic factors are first examined. Utility and regulatory issues affecting geothermal resources in those states are also cited. Local issues and solutions to challenges are reported. |
