Geothermal development provides a sharp economic stimulus from a minimal land base. Regional and national interests are also served. Multiple public and private sector benefits cause minimal public service requirements. Regulatory environments vary thought-out the West but off site economic effects are similar in type and magnitude, subject to project size. Enhanced employment and tax roles, new local government revenue sources, industrial diversity and stability and general economic viability are being realized at nearly 50 plants on more than a dozen reservoirs. At least 20 new plants are planned or under construction. |
