| Abstract | The High Cascades volcanic province has long been suspected to contain considerable geothermal potential. However, few deep wells have been drilled, and much of the data that have been accumulated are proprietary. In response to the need to obtain a better understanding of the Cascades region, the U.S. Department of Energy, Geothermal Technology Division, sponsored a cooperative research program with industry based around obtaining data from research coreholes. This paper is a progress report on the three coreholes completed to date, including a summary of drilling histories and a description of the scientific studies underway and of the open file data available. |
