| Abstract |
Since May, 1985, Chevron has been using downhole line shaft driven geothermal well pumps to deliver 360°F brine to San Diego Gas & Electric's binary plant at Heber, CA. Initial service life of these pumps was disappointing. IN our efforts to improve the pump life, we adopted changes in many area including design, material selection, installation and handling procedures, operation monitoring, and quality control during pump repair and manufacture. During this 1987 Geothermal Resources Council Annual Meeting, we are presenting two papers on this subject. A companion paper by Mr. B.L:. Hopper of Chevron Corporation will cover design and material selection aspects. |
