| Abstract | Water and steam samples were taken from the discharge of the Platanares PLTG-1 exploratory well over a range of separation pressures. The analyses of these samples have been used to calculate the enthalpy an composition of fluid feeding the well. Comparison with spring analyses suggests that boiling occurs between the aquifer and the surface and that carbonates and silica precipitate. Geothermometers indicate that a deeper, hotter reservoir exists in the system and that residence time in the aquifer feeding the well is relatively short. |
