| Abstract | The state of New Mexico provided $100,000 for cost sharing the drilling of geothermal exploratory and production wells. Cost sharing was on a 50 percent basis between state and the participants. Twelve temperature gradient holes and nine production wells were drilled. One new resource area with electrical grade potential was confirmed. One resource developer is presently building six acres of greenhouses at shallow low temperature site. Additional development is anticipated at other selected areas through the state. Permanent employment opportunities were created that will repay the state investment within two years. |
