| Abstract | The techniques of environmental impact assessment as applied to the development of a geothermal resource for electric power generation area described. Characterization of environmental features of the area was undertaken at an early stage of the project's development an din parallel to development of design concepts. A potential for significant adverse environmental effects was identified and communicated to project engineers. To a greater or lesser extent these potential impacts were able to be avoided through the cooperative efforts of environmental and engineering staff. |
