Continuing experience with control technologies for hydrogen sulfide removal from geothermal steam incondensables, indicates that any new development must succeed in eliminating any trace o heavy metals form process discharges. To emphasize this advantage, a new hydrogen sulfide abatement process, =XERTIC=, developed by Peabody Process Systems, uses a biodegradable buffered aqueous solution to perform the Claus reaction in liquid phase, with final production of solid sulfur. The paper fully describes the new process, together with the macroscopic evaluation of the steady sate external plant parameters and system constraints. |
