Title Fracture Control of Fluid Flow Revealed by Fluid Inclusions at the Hatchobaru Geothermal Field

Abstract Fluid inclusion thermometry has been applied to hydrothermal minerals of quartz and anhydrite collected form cores an cuttings from Hatchobaru geothermal field, Kyushu, Japan. The minimum value of the homogenization temperatures at each depth indicates the present subsurface temperature. Temperatures distribution at the productive depths (about 100m below surface) estimated using the minimum homogenization temperatures shows an elongated high temperature zone: the high temperature zone at 270°C is 600m long and about 100m wide. The direction of this high temperature zone is concordant with the NW trending Komatsuike fault which is accompanies by many thermal manifestations. The above facts suggest the fracture control of fluid flow by the NW trending fault.
