| Abstract |
TACMUD is a new process that adapts and incorporates the "aqua reactive" properties of a special chemical grout, TACSS, for the purpose of controlling lost circulation. The properties of the new agent, TACMUD, are described and the reliability of this hydrated reaction to occur within fissured rock under high pressure and high temperature is established. An accurate delivery system for TACMUD is developed and its technical requirements are tested. In Dec. 1984 and again in Aug. 1985 during tests at two different drilling sites in Japan, TACMUD successfully stopped lost circulation that other methods had failed to control. The onsite conditions, methods of application, results and indications for each of these trial applications are introduced. |
