Abstract Injection, falloff and buildup tests were conducted on well OA-4 drilled in the Okauizu geothermal field in Japan. The pressure transient data were interpreted using conventional type curve and graphical analysis. The early time data of each test is closely approximated by a line of 1/2 slope of a log-log plot which implies that the well is fractured. The second portion of the pressure time response is approximated by a well developed semi-log straight line. The third region that may indicate the presence of a reservoir boundary of constant pressure, appears for the injection data. A noteworthy feature in the injection/falloff data is that the slope of the semi-log straight line is the same with the injection as with the falloff data. This result can be interpreted in terms of retardation of the thermal front and rapid propagation of the pressure front within fractures.
