Abstract With data form 23 wells we derived the corresponding values of pressure, enthalpy, water saturation, and steam quality for the unperturbed fluids of the reservoir. On this basis we developed a vertical 1D model of the reservoir which accurately reproduces the main observations. The model reveals the existence of a deep, hot, extended aquifer at the abase of the system; that there is no significant recharge from the surface of the field; and that a caprock seal exists over a major part of the reservoir. It also shows that Los Azurfres is an unusual system in which the transition between a liquid dominated and a vapor dominated reservoir is observable.
