Abstract The problems of glow measurement and gamma ray irradiation were discussed. In TL dating, low temperature peak (lower than 300°C) can not be used because fading is predominant. Saturation test is very important for identifying the samples not suitable for dating. In some samples, change of TL sensitivity by heating was observed. However, most of samples show good correlation of glow patterns and peak height in natural, gamma ray assisted an artificially irradiated samples. Lack or deficiency of low temperature TL peak indicated the presence of recent hydrothermal activities. The ages of volcanic rocks and altered samples obtained by TL method are range from 0.006 to 2.25 Ma and effectively applied to geothermal exploration.
