| Abstract | The part of the East African Rift in South Western Tanzania at Mbeya has been earmarked prospective for geothermal development. Initial studies of this area have been prioritized first due to the projected industrial an agricultural high future energy demand. Analysis of the results suggest that high enthalpy bicarbonate - sulphate- chloride fluids of temperature exceed 220°C may exist beneath the Mbeya and Rungwe volcanoes. It is probable that deeper chloride rich waters move laterally along faults or through sedimentary permeable zones to the lower elevation of the Rift. |
