| Abstract | Miravalles Geothermal field in Costa Rica, known to produce commercial amounts of high enthalpy fluids since 1979, is planned to start into electric power generation by the year 1990, with a first unit of 55 MW. Six successful wells have been drilled with an average production of 4.5 MW per well. Chemistry of the sampled fluids show about 7000 TDS, with low gas content. Production is believed to come from deep open fractures, intersecting old volcanic formations. Reservoir testing show very high values of transmissivity and storativity in these formations. |
