| Abstract | On the southern border of Larderello geothermal field two different situations are encountered in the upper part of the reservoir. Near Monterotondo the vapor dominated and the external, cold, water dominated system are separated by a low permeability barrier. In Lagoni Rossi-Caroli area, on the contrary, the two system are connected and interfere with one another. The connection takes place mainly through a few narrow flow channels that, in pre-exploitation conditions, allowed steam to flow from the vapor dominated reservoir. At present the cold water recharge to the exploited reservoir takes place through these channels. |
