| Abstract | A four point plan for the qualification of the GEODYN drill string dynamics computer program is described. The qualifications plan investigates both modal response and transient response of a short drill strings subjected to simulated cutting loads applied through a polycrystalline diamond compact (PDC) bit. The experimentally based qualification shows that the analytical techniques included in Phase I GEODYN correctly simulate the dynamic response of the bit drill string system. |
