Abstract The Ferrara Geothermal Project is basically composed of two well defined but complementary parts. The first, geological and mineralogical in nature, is dealt with by AGIP-ENEL Joint Venture AGIPs mining sector department and it relates to the development of a low enthalpy fluid geothermal deposit, found in carbonate rocks dating back to the Mesozoic (Jurassic-Cretaceous), which is located in Casaglia, 4 km NW of Ferrara (Po Valley - Italy). The second, concerned with the engineering aspect of the Project, aims at providing a heating system, equipped with technical innovations as compared to the traditional system, and it will supply come of the town's districts. Users survey and works planning have been carried out by Ferrara's Municipal Administration.
