Harney County, Oregon is both the state's largest county (10,132 square miles), and potentially riches in geothermal resources (over 300 MW, USGS, 1978). As an outgrowth of economic development efforts, the County commissioned a renewable energy plan analyzing several energy resources. This paper is a synopsis of the geothermal element of that plan, the purpose being to implement a long term development process for these resources. Resource sites were assessed, inventoried, and ranked, major constraints to resource development identified an development alternative formulated. |
