| Abstract | This paper presents some of the advantages and pitfalls of lithology determination from digitized well logs. Examples are provided from the Ore-Ida No. 1 geothermal well in Ontario, Oregon, drilled through a sequence of siltstone, clay, tuff and basalt/andesite. The use of histograms and cross plots to differentiate various lithological units and to identify alteration is illustrated. |
