| Abstract | Several shallow wells and one deep well recently drilled in the Atlantic Coastal Plan have indicated the existence of warm water geothermal resources. A detailed study of the direct application of this geothermal energy for the production of hot process water was conducted for an existing frozen food plant on the Delmarva Peninsula, Maryland. Several cases with and without the application of heat pumps were considered. Payback periods were found to be attractive, ranging from 3 to 6 years, for the range of well conditions; temperature, flow, drawdown, indicated by the pervious test well drilling program. |
