China is rich in geothermal resources. The lower temperature limit of geothermal waters in China is defined as 25°C. The thermal waters are categorized into three groups: low (25°-60°C), medium (60°-100°C) and high (>100°C) temperature thermal waters. Xizang (Tibet), Taiwan and Yunnan are the most promising regions for the development of high temperature geothermal energy. Medium-low temperature water is more efficient for direct use. Since 1977, six experimental geothermal power stations have been set up throughout the country. In Beijing (China), Tianjin and other places thermal water has been used for space heating, industrial processing, agriculture, horticulture and therapeutic sanatoriums, etc. |
