Abstract The test procedure and apparatus were developed to measure accurate wetting phase relative permeability of rock samples at free gas saturations lower than maximum irreducible using a brine solution and methane gas. The rock samples used in this study were extracted from geopressured, geothermal reservoir underlying Brazoria County, Texas. The investigated items included the effects of hysteresis, or horizontal and vertical bedding planes, of magnitude of absolute permeability and the initial fluctuation of relative permeability with increasing free gas saturation.
