Abstract Accurate geothermal logging requires pressure measurements with resolutions down to 0.01 psi in environments of up to 275°C and 15,000 psi. This paper examines the characteristics of several basic types of pressure transducers and compares them to these requirements. Specific deficiencies are identified such as thermal stability and resolution limitations; R&D activities and results correcting these deficiencies are discussed.
