Abstract Cotton seed hulls and saw dust have been under consideration as possible loss circulation and fluid loss agents in geothermal operations. The decompositions of these materials have been studied in high temperatures (up to 450°F) brine and deionized water. The decomposed solid residue from the various tests have been examined by scanning electron microscope (SEM). The liquid products have been analyzed for total organic carbon (TOC). The experimental results of the present work suggest that these materials are suitable loss circulation agents and fluid loss agents for geothermal applications.
