| Abstract | Hybrid power plants combining geothermal energy with another heat source have the potential for improving the economics of geothermal power production, while at the same time conserving the resource by greatly increasing the efficiency with which it is used. Binary cycle power plant technology need not be limited to pure geothermal plants. The same technology can apply to hybrids. The key to designing a hybrid cycle that combines a high geothermal fraction with good efficiency is selection of an appropriate working fluid. |
