Abstract The Utah State Legislative considered a new Geothermal Resource Act at its 1979 regular session. The act included a definition of the geothermal resource, the nature of this relationship to the water resources of the state, the authority of the Division of Water Rights to regulate the development of the resource, and the power to require unitization of the resource. The act was introduced but died at the close of the session. It may be resubmitted at the budgetary session in 1980 after some further review.
