Abstract International Engineering Company, Inc. (IECO), under contract with the new United States Department of Energy (DOE), formally the Energy Research and Development Administration (ERDA), has reviewed, modified, adapted, and updated the conceptual design of its initial study on the Total Energy Recovery System for Agribusiness (TERSA) to be suitable for a specific site or area in Lake County, California. The objective of the initial study was to evaluate the costs and viability of combined thermodynamic and biologic cycles in a system known as TERSA. This conceptual system involved the combined geothermally heated activities of greenhouse crop and mushroom growing, fish farming, and biogas generation in an integrated biologic system such that the waster or by products of each subsystems cycle were recovered to service input needs of the companion cycles.
