| Abstract | The recently developed inter-station impulse response method of measuring surface wave dispersion is adapted to very short period waves and applied to micro earthquake generated surface waves in the East Mesa Geothermal Field, California. This provides important information about shear wave velocity in the top few kilometers. Separate evidence indicates the presence of a low velocity channel with an apparent shear wave velocity of about 3.15 km/sec at a depth of 10 to 15 km. |
