| Abstract | The government of Kenya has developed a master plan to guide implementation of projects necessary to make Kenya a middle level income economy by the year 2030. Development of recommended projects under Vision 2030 and overall economic growth will increase demand on Kenya’s energy supply. As a result, geothermal energy is among the best options due to its manageable environmental and socio economic impacts. For successful development of geothermal resource socio-economic and environmental concerns have to be considered. This is achievable through environmental and social impact assessments/monitoring conducted throughout the project life cycle in accordance to relevant environmental and socio economic legislations. |
