| Abstract | This paper describes the winter performance of a ground source heat pump (GSHP) system with centrifugal compressors and variable frequency pumps. Results showed that the present GSHP system can reach a better operation performance, as compared to a typical GSHP system using screw compressors and fixed frequency pumps. Within the range of 50-100% load ratio, the degradation of COP can be neglected. At a lower operating load ratio of 40-50%, the COP of the whole system can be kept at higher than 3.0. For a much lower operating load ratio of 20-30%, it is difficult to use the present frequency conversion technology to guarantee a high COP. The present results can provide some guidelines for the design of similar large-scale GSHP systems in future. |
