| Abstract | To simulate geothermal heat pump (GHP) systems, a proper and reliable three-dimensional numerical simulator was developed and validated. The genetic algorithm (GA) was employed for the optimized design of GHP systems to minimize the costs. The developed model was applied to a vertical closed-loop GHP system that is placed at the building of the Earthquake Research Center in Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources (KIGAM) in Daejeon, Korea. The results show that the KIGAM GHP system could be over-sized. |
