| Abstract | The chemical and physical conditions in geothermal power plant waters can allow development of sulfobacteria involved in sulphur biological cycle. In this study we report the preliminary results obtained in the research and classification of bacteria developing in cooling tower waters. In our study we first developed identification techniques and then identified the habitat suitable for proliferation of sulfobacteria. Several families of sulfobacteria have been identified in different physical chemical environments and among all the Sulfolobus has been identified. The identification has been extended to natural hot springs in the Larderello area. |
