An analysis of entropy generation and the productivity index during heat extraction in geothermal brine is presented using a concentric airlift pumping system with nozzles of different total areas for gas injection and varying submergence ratios in a 1,344-meter-deep geothermal well. From the collected data, both the productivity index and the entropy generation are obtained through thermodynamic analysis. The results show that, during the geothermal brine extraction process, entropy generation decreases both with higher submergence ratios and with nozzles with larger gas injection areas at a constant flow rate. This increases the temperature of the extracted brine and the productivity index. It can be concluded that: by increasing the immersion ratios, as well as the total area for gas injection with the nozzles, the velocity of the geothermal brine in the riser pipe inside the well is increased, thereby reducing heat loss to the geothermal reservoir through heat transfer. Therefore, an increase in the temperature and flow variables extracted within the experimental range is observed. |
