| Abstract |
The main objective of the project is to evaluate waste streams from electricity and hot water production at the Hellisheiði Cogenerative Geothermal Power Plant located in Iceland. Methods include defining waste, establishing boundary conditions specific to the plant, and identifying waste-to-value opportunities. Work investigates sources of waste, disposal methods, environmental impacts, and potential cascade utilization opportunities. Results indicate the portion of available excess that could be used in internal engineering processes and by the existing geothermal resource park. Ultimately, the tool developed through this research is evaluated alongside Reykjavik Energy’s Research and Innovation department to assess its utility in supporting future sustainability initiatives. |
