| Abstract | CO2 has been proposed as the working fluid to extract geothermal energy from the Hot Dry Rock reservoir. In this study, a single rough fracture model that accurately reflects the fracture surface morphology has been built successfully based on the fractal dimension theory. The mass and heat transfer process of supercritical CO2 flow through the rough fracture has been simulated and analyzed systemically. Two settings of the rough fracture model also been compared, revealing that the rough fracture model with the anisotropy factor An=1.05 have larger velocities than those for the rough fracture model with the anisotropy factor An=1.00. A clear illustration of temperature and velocity distributions along and vertical to supercritical CO2 flow direction through a rough fracture is presented that the effects of initial rock temperature. In addition, it is found that the velocity and temperature of supercritical CO2 flow have positive relationships with the distance from the inlet. With the increase of initial rock temperature, the maximum CO2 temperature of the single fracture model for An=1.00 are larger than those for An=1.05. When initial rock temperature is set as 240℃, the maximum CO2 temperature for An=1.00 equals to 488℃ while the maximum CO2 temperature for An=1.05 equals to 472℃.This paper provides a detailed presentation for heat transfer characterizations of supercritical CO2 flow through the rough fracture, which plays a positive effect for further research. |
