| Abstract | The Songliao Basin is a major petroliferous basin in China, abundant in geothermal resources. Drilling data show that formation temperatures at around 4 km depth can reach 150°C, highlighting its significant geothermal potential. While geothermal development in the basin is advancing, understanding the formation mechanisms and distribution patterns of these resources is essential for further exploration. Thermal sources play a crucial role in the formation and enrichment of geothermal resources. Research on the thermal sources of the Songliao Basin mainly relies on terrestrial heat flow analysis, with lithospheric thermal structure studies distinguishing crustal and mantle heat flows. Existing studies indicate that mantle-derived heat flow predominates. However, quantitative analysis of heat source components remains limited, with inadequate evaluation of radiogenic heat production from the sedimentary cover, crystalline basement, and both the upper and lower crusts. Additionally, geophysical surveys have identified partial melt bodies within the crust, yet their heat contributions remain unquantified, and the impact of shallow hydrothermal activity on heat flow is not well understood. To address these gaps, this study compiled steady-state temperature measurements, conducted laboratory analyses of thermal conductivity and radiogenic heat production from core and outcrop samples, and supplemented existing data with new heat flow measurements. The research quantified radiogenic heat contributions from various lithospheric layers and assessed the thermal effects of hydrothermal activity in sedimentary strata and partial melts in the crust. The findings provide valuable insights into geothermal mechanisms and help guide future exploration efforts. |
